Microphone/Audio

Basics - 

  • Determine if the Microphone is detected by the Device Manager 

    • Type in Search-Device Manager-Audio inputs and outputs 

      • Your Microphone should show up here if connected to the Machine Correctly.  If not confirm the cables (if applicable) are plugged in correctly/securely 

      • From Device Manager you can also 'Update Driver', Uninstall Device (it should 'detect' once if you click Scan New Hardware (Red Arrow)

      • You can also right click the device to determine the properties of driver 

  • Determine if your Microphone is the 'Default' recognized by Microsoft 

    • Type in Search-Sound Settings 

    • You should see your Microphone listed in the Input Section. 

      • You can select Device Properties to perform a test to see if your Mic is working(does not 'test' detect sound.  Utilize Search-Voice Recorder [have to enable mic access])

    • Under Advanced Settings you can set Master Volume and ensure you see your Microphone is showing/selected.  

    • You can also go also select your Mic sepecifically for certain Programs (ie Teams). 

  • Determine if Windows/Privacy settings is allowing your Mic to be used 

    • Type in your Search-Settings 

    • Click the Privacy icon/selection 

    • Here you can Allow Access to your Apps, as well as selecting individual Apps.
